What enables great corporate leaders to detect signals that their industry, or perhaps the entire world, is about to change? How are they able to place their companies in a position to capitalize on that change? And how can you become one of those extraordinary people? It boils down to one word - vision. Leaders who lacked it have often guided their companies to obsolescence and failure. The rare leaders who cultivated a strong vision have disrupted industries, created new ones, and remade the world. For example, you may never have heard of Ingvar Kamprad, but his vision of design furniture that should not just be accessible to the "happy few" led to the global success of Ikea. John F. Kennedy's 1961 vision that America could put a man on the moon "by the end of the decade" led to just that - as well as new products ranging from LED lights to artificial limbs. The recent economic boom in Dubai has occurred thanks to a sheikh who realized the region's oil supply would eventually run out. So he developed a vision for today's Dubai, a modern city that focuses on service industries as different as high finance and high-end tourism. Fortunately, visionary leadership is never an accident of birth. This audiobook will teach you the practices that can make you a successful visionary, such as: How to grow your ability to detect change early How to connect the dots among emerging trends to develop a coherent and robust vision Ways to create scenarios that help you design interruptive strategies, products, and services that are game changers Practical ideas and exercises you can incorporate into your daily routine to nurture your visionary side How to speak like a visionary leader, present your ideas more colorfully, and ignite your followers emotionally so they'll put their best efforts into a commonly shared cause 1. Internationalization journeysWe will outline in this book that internationalization represents a much desired corporate endeavor, yet also one that is not yet fully mastered. Performance suffers at various stages in the internationalization journey, contingent upon the country of origin, the chosen path and the skills companies built up in order to master the adversity. A key variable to understand better in internationalization journeys is organizational culture, a construct which has been fascinating researchers and practitioners for a long time. The study presented in this book does not understand organizational culture as a fatalistic construct. Cultures can be formed to some extent and this book outlines the adaptations needed at different stages of internationalization journeys of German versus US companies.Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Amann has been designing and delivering executive education seminars for more than 18 years. Corporate Social Responsibility from an Emerging Market PerspectiveBusiness schools ought to create and disseminate more knowledge on sustainability on one side, and how to create value and values in key markets of the future, such as India. Despite the proliferation of corporate social responsibility (CSR) related research in academic management literature, the numerous nuances of this multidisciplinary concept pose challenges in arriving at a clear conceptualization, especially in emerging giant markets such as India. Therefore, the addition of CSR viewpoints from an emerging economy can contribute invaluable insights to the growing body of scholarly work in this realm. This book addresses this research gap by exploring CSR from an Indian perspective. It asks what CSR denotes in the Indian setting from the pharmaceutical industry s perspective. Four comparative case studies form the basis of the methodology, complemented with 40 supplementary interviews with top management personnel in other companies within the industry.Dr. Shiban Khan is a management consulting expert with a strong background in international business and multicultural management. Examining The Impact of School Inspection On Te...

Master's Thesis from the year 2016 in the subject Pedagogy - The Teacher, Educational Leadership, , language: English, abstract: School inspection is one of the most challenging aspects in education; it represents an approach of accountability in teaching and learning. Moreover, school inspection provides policy and decision makers with accurate information about the current state of education in their respective institutions. The main purpose of this study is to examine and determine the impact of school inspection on teaching and learning in Dubai-based private schools, and to give some recommendations into how to conduct effective school inspection that would positively influence teaching and learning. This research included 37 participants; 2 inspectors, 4 head-teachers and 31 teachers, from 4 private schools, who follow different types of curricula, from all grades of performance according to inspection reports conducted in the 2014/2015 academic year. The findings show that school inspection has a significant role in school improvement, especially in teaching and learning. Teachers acknowledge the feedback that inspectors give to them. However, school inspection also has a negative impact on teaching and learning; for instance, it forces some schools to show activities they have never done before. Moreover, the school inspection reports and recommendations, in some cases, are superficial and are not related to the school context; moreover, they often do not show teachers how they can respond to criticism in the reality of their teaching practice. Nevertheless, the relationship between inspectors and teachers is not that positive, especially in some subjects, such as Arabic language and Islamic Studies. This piece of research suggests some areas for the betterment in school inspection, such as giving more importance for SSE School-Self evaluations, shortening the notice period, visiting schools at different times throughout the academic year, making such visits every three years, as well as ensuring that school inspectors have a high degree in education and in the subject they inspect. Nevertheless, it recommends establishing an independent school inspection system. On the other hand, this study suggests further research on the accountability of teaching and learning in Dubai in specific subjects, such as Arabic and Islamic studies, because reality shows that the recent intervention and policy have not been as fruitful as expected
